If indeed he excelled in describing it,

He has surely left the beauty of description for you.

For you are an ocean, and the oceans

Surely disdain the praise of these pools.

It is as though you were your sword: neither what you possess

Remains with you, nor what it possesses.

For more than its flow is what you have given,

And more than its water is what your sword has shed.

You have done harm and good from a position of power,

And revolved over mankind as the celestial sphere revolves.
