أَمِن كُلِّ شَيءٍ بَلَغتَ المُرادا

أَمِن كُلِّ شَيءٍ بَلَغتَ المُرادا

وَفي كُلِّ شَأوٍ شَأَوتَ العِبادا

وَفي كُلِّ شَأوٍ شَأَوتَ العِبادا

Have you attained your desire in everything,

Have you attained the goal in every endeavor?

And outstripped mankind in every contest?

And in every course, outstripped all humankind?

فَماذا تَرَكتَ لِمَن لَم يَسُد

فَماذا تَرَكتَ لِمَن لَم يَسُد

وَماذا تَرَكتَ لِمَن كانَ سادا

وَماذا تَرَكتَ لِمَن كانَ سادا

Then what have you left for one who has not attained eminence,

What then have you left for he who holds no sway?

And what have you left for one who had already attained it?

And what have you left for he who bears the crown?

كَأَنَّ السُمانى إِذا ما رَأَتكَ

كَأَنَّ السُمانى إِذا ما رَأَتكَ

تَصَيَّدُها تَشتَهي أَن تُصادا

تَصَيَّدُها تَشتَهي أَن تُصادا

It is as though the quails, when they see you

It is as if the quail, when it beholds you

Hunting them, long to be hunted.

Hunting it down, desires to be the prey.
