ماذا يَقولُ الَّذي يُغَنّي
ياO خَيرَbest of مَنthose تَحتَbeneath ذيthis السَماءِthe sky
يا خَيرَ مَن تَحتَ ذي السَماءِ
What does the one who sings say?
What does he who sings say
What words are these the singer chants,
O best of those beneath this sky,
O best of those under the sky
O best of all beneath the sky?
شَغَلتَyou have distracted قَلبيmy heart بِلَحظِwith the gaze of عَينيmy eye
شَغَلتَ قَلبي بِلَحظِ عَيني
إِلَيكَtoward you عَنaway from حُسنِthe beauty of ذاthis الغِناءِthe singing
إِلَيكَ عَن حُسنِ ذا الغِناءِ
You have distracted my heart with my eye's gaze
You have occupied my heart with a glance of my eyes
You seized my heart with my own gaze,
Toward you, away from the beauty of this singing.
To you, over the beauty of this singing
And turned me from the song's sweet sigh.
