How you long for the days to be serene for you,
How I wish the days would arrange for you
so you may live without grief and without being wronged;
To live without sorrow or hurt

to live with your gaze seeing only contentment,
To live while your eyes see only contentment
and withdrawal carrying discontent far from you.
And discontent is far removed from you

O slumbering one, you have longed for a cloak
O heedless one, you wished for a cloak
woven and sewn for you by dreams.
That dreams had woven and stitched for you

This is history—ask it: has
This is history, ask those who
anyone before you ever lived in bliss?
Lived happily before you, people do sleep
عجباhow strange! لمنat one who فيin نومهhis sleep مستغرقimmersed
وand غداtomorrow طويلاfor a long time فيin الترابthe dust ينامُhe will sleep
How strange is one who is immersed in his sleep
Wondrous is he who is lost in slumber
and tomorrow will sleep long in the dust!
And tomorrow he will sleep long in dirt
