وينسبنيand ascribes me للتركto the Turks والرومand the Romans معشرa group of people
وينسبني للترك والروم معشر
ولستand I am not بتركِّيa Turk ولستand I am not برومانيa Roman
ولست بتركِّي ولست بروماني
Some people reckon me among the Turks and the Romans,
They attribute me to the Turks and the Romans, a group
Yet I am not a Turk, nor am I a Roman.
Yet I am neither Turkish nor Roman
ولكننيbut I am منone whose يعلمknows اللهGod سرهhis secret
ولكنني من يعلم الله سره
ويعلمand He knows بالإسلامfor Islam وجديmy ardor ووجدانيand my inner feelings
ويعلم بالإسلام وجدي ووجداني
But I am one whose secret God knows,
Rather I am one whose secret is known to God
And He knows my ardor and my inner feelings for Islam.
And my roots, Islam, ancestors and heritage are known to Him
