تعجب قومي من بديع تغزُّلي

وقالوا لقد زفت إليك البدائع

وقالوا لقد زفت إليك البدائع

My people marveled at my wondrous love poetry,

My people are amazed at my exquisite love poems

And they said, “Indeed, marvels have been ushered to you.”

And said, “Inspiration has certainly come to you!”

وما بفتى يستخرج الدرَّ بدعة

وما بفتى يستخرج الدرَّ بدعة

وفي نسخ الوجه الجميل يطالع

وفي نسخ الوجه الجميل يطالع

And it is no wonder that a youth draws forth pearls

For no young man extracts gems through innovation

While he peruses copies of the beautiful face.
