بادر إلى اللذات قبل فوات

وهلم نهمل فالزمان مؤات

وهلم نهمل فالزمان مؤات

Hasten to pleasures before they pass.

Indulge in pleasures before they pass you by,

And come, let us be heedless, for the time is favorable.

Come let us neglect, for time betrays.

أما الوقار فلا تدع أَبداً له

أما الوقار فلا تدع أَبداً له

أثراً يعرقل ظله خطواتي

أثراً يعرقل ظله خطواتي

As for dignity, never allow it

As for dignity, never let it

a trace whose shadow hinders my steps.

Hinder the steps of my feet.

إني أخو طرب أعيش لأَنتشي

إني أخو طرب أعيش لأَنتشي

علَّ الزمان يدوخ من نشواتي

علَّ الزمان يدوخ من نشواتي

Indeed, I am a brother to revelry; I live to become intoxicated,

I'm the brother of joy, I live to delight,

perhaps time will reel from my ecstasies.

So that time reels from my pleasures.

سكران قد صدقوا ورب محمد

سكران قد صدقوا ورب محمد

إني أخو طرب فتى حانات

إني أخو طرب فتى حانات

Drunk—indeed, they spoke the truth, by the Lord of Muhammad!

Truthfully drunken, by the Lord of Mohammed,

Indeed, I am a brother to revelry, a tavern lad.

I'm the brother of joy, the boy of taverns.

أسقى وأشربها وأَعرف أنها

أسقى وأشربها وأَعرف أنها

رجس ومن عمل اللعين العاتي

رجس ومن عمل اللعين العاتي

I am served wine, and I drink it, and I know that it is

I pour and drink them, and I know they are

an abomination, and the work of the accursed, defiant one.

Filth, the work of the damned transgressor.

لكن فيها للأنام منافعاً

لكن فيها للأنام منافعاً

قد تجمع الشملين بعد شتات

قد تجمع الشملين بعد شتات

But in it there are benefits for humankind:

But in them are benefits for people

it may reunite the two groups after separation.

That may unite the estranged after separation.
