O virtuous one, for whom rang out

glad tidings in the procession of excellence,

what is it with the branches of the gardens,

that sway with a boaster's swaying,

وترفعت عنا ارتفا

ع الأكبرين على الأصاغر

and have risen above us as

the greater rise above the lesser?

أتظن أنا في النضا

أتظن أنا في النضا

ر قد اجتلت منا الزواهر

ر قد اجتلت منا الزواهر

Do they think that, in golden splendor,

the radiant blossoms have deserted us?

أو كان منثرها الثما

أو كان منثرها الثما

ر فإن منثرنا الجواهر

ر فإن منثرنا الجواهر

Or, if what they scatter is fruit,

then what we scatter is jewels.

فارشد محير شأنها

فارشد محير شأنها

لا زلت مرشد كل حائر

لا زلت مرشد كل حائر

So guide the one bewildered by their state;

may you ever guide all who are perplexed.

واسلم رفيع المجد تخدم

واسلم رفيع المجد تخدم

مجد رفعتك الأكابر

مجد رفعتك الأكابر

And live unharmed, lofty in glory; serving

the glory of your eminence are the great,

ما حليت عطل الصحا

as long as bare pages are adorned

with pearls of a poet's verse.
