وَلِهِ الرَجاءُ وَذو غِنىً يَستَرجِعُ
The seekers of bounty stood over you, among them one bewildered,
The unkempt stood over you, confused,
Distraught in hope, and a wealthy man uttering the words of return to God;
While he of hope and wealth tries to recover,
وَمُخادِعُand one deceiving السَمعِthe hearing النَعيَّthe death announcement وَدونَهُand before him

خَطبٌ أَلَمَّ بِصادِقٍ لا يَخدَعُ
And one trying to deceive his hearing about the death announcement, while before him lies
And the deceiver of hearing laments, and after him
A calamity that has befallen a truthful one who does not deceive.
Speeches that afflict the truthful, who does not deceive.
