قَبُحَت مَناظِرُه فَحينَ خَبُرتُه
حَسُنَتbecame fair مَناظِرُهhis looks لِقُبحِbecause of the ugliness of المَخبَرِthe inner character
حَسُنَت مَناظِرُه لِقُبحِ المَخبَرِ
His looks were ugly; then, when I came to know him,
His views were ugly, but when I got to know him,
his looks seemed fair because of the ugliness of his character.
His views became beautiful, for the informant was ugly.
