    They emerged as radiant stars emerge, and so met

    Upon them, from themselves, loveliness and coquetry.

    And a mole like the full moon's mark, on a face like that moon—

    In it we found our wishes, but giving held us back.

    And water like the sun's orb, admitting no mote,

    When the east breeze glides through it, you would think it rises.

    From the laughing, radiant clouds that, when they meet,

    The pouring rain tells of their secrets.

    فَأَلبَسَها حِلماً وَفي حِلمِها جَهلُ

    With it we broke the wine's sharp edge, when the wine had risen;

    So it clothed the wine in forbearance, yet in its forbearance lay rashness.
