إذا ما عَزمْتَ الرَّحيلَ فَقُلْ

وَداعًا، فَما زادَ عُمْرٌ.. وقَـلْ

When you resolve to depart, then say:

Farewell—for life has not lengthened, but dwindled.

كنجْم مَحَى ظُلْمةً إنْ أتى

كنجْم مَحَى ظُلْمةً إنْ أتى

وإنْ أَشْرَقتْ شَمْسُ فَجْرٍ أَفَـلْ

وإنْ أَشْرَقتْ شَمْسُ فَجْرٍ أَفَـلْ

Like a star that dispels darkness when it appears,

And sets when the sun of dawn shines.
