صِلنيkeep ties with me كماas رَحمٍkin يُزارُis visited
صِلني كما رَحمٍ يُزارُ
فالقلبُfor the heart للمُشتاقِfor one who longs دارُa home
فالقلبُ للمُشتاقِ دارُ
Visit me as one visits kin.
Reunite me as pilgrims reunite
For the heart is a home for one who longs.
For the heart is home to the longing one
يوميmy day كَأمسيْlike my yesterday قدْalready مَضَىhas passed
يومي كَأمسيْ قدْ مَضَى
وغَديand my tomorrow يَسيرُmoves on كيومِlike the day سارواthey departed
وغَدي يَسيرُ كيومِ ساروا
My day, like my yesterday, has already passed.
My today is as my yesterday, departed
And my tomorrow moves on like the day they departed.
And my tomorrow passes as the day they marched away
وحديalone ودمعيand my tears نازفٌbleeding
وحدي ودمعي نازفٌ
هلّاwhy did you not أجرْتَyou sheltered منthose who استَجارواthey sought refuge؟
هلّا أجرْتَ من استَجاروا؟
I am alone, and my tears are bleeding.
Alone am I, with tears streaming down
Why did you not shelter those who sought refuge?
Why not come to the aid of those begging for refuge?
