تَراهُyou see him عَنْaway from وِدادِaffection الخِلِّthe close friend حَادَاturned away
تَراهُ عَنْ وِدادِ الخِلِّ حَادَا
وَزَادَand he added عَلىto تَبَاعُدِهِhis estrangement بِعاداdistance
وَزَادَ عَلى تَبَاعُدِهِ بِعادا
You see that he has turned away from a close friend's affection,
He has strayed from affection’s path
And has added still more distance to his estrangement.
And his distance has only increased
إذاif أَبْدَيْتَyou offered عُذْراًan excuse للمطاياfor the mounts
إذا أَبْدَيْتَ عُذْراً للمطايا
فَمَاذاthen what عُذْرُexcuse مَنْone who تَرَكَabandoned العِهاداthe pledges
فَمَاذا عُذْرُ مَنْ تَرَكَ العِهادا
If you offer an excuse for the mounts,
If you offer excuses for sins
Then what excuse has one who has abandoned the pledges?
What excuse is there for one who broke his vow?
