Verse whose luster is like the bright stars, or like blossoms,

A composition like flowers or like flowers in bloom

Or like choice pearls upon shells.

Or like pearls made into necklaces on a shell

أَهْدَاهُ نَجْلُ الْكِرامِ الْغُرِّ منْ مُضَرٍ

أَهْدَاهُ نَجْلُ الْكِرامِ الْغُرِّ منْ مُضَرٍ

سَاداتِ كُلِّ الْوَرَى في الْعِلْمِ والشَّرَفِ

سَاداتِ كُلِّ الْوَرَى في الْعِلْمِ والشَّرَفِ

A scion of the noble, illustrious men of Mudar presented it,

Presented by the noble, generous youth of Muḍar

Masters of all humankind in learning and honor.

The lords of all mankind in knowledge and nobility

للهِ دَرُّكَ بَلْ للهِ دُرُّكَ بَلْ

للهِ دَرُّكَ بَلْ للهِ دُرُّكَ بَلْ

للهِ مِنْ سَلَفٍ منْكُمْ ومِنْ خَلَفِ

للهِ مِنْ سَلَفٍ منْكُمْ ومِنْ خَلَفِ

God be praised for your excellence—nay, God be praised for your pearls—nay,

For God your pearls! Nay for God your pearls!

God be praised for the forebears among you and for your successors!
