ثَلاَثَةٌ قَلَّ أَنْ تَراها
مَعَwith ثَلاثٍthree فَخُذْso take بَيانَهْits explanation
مَعَ ثَلاثٍ فَخُذْ بَيانَهْ
Three things you rarely see
Three are seldom seen
paired with three others—so hear their explanation:
With three others take heed
جَمالُbeauty خَلْقٍphysical form مَعْwith صِيانَهْchastity
جَمالُ خَلْقٍ مَعْ صِيانَهْ
وحُسْنُand goodness خُلْقٍcharacter مَعَwith دِيانهْpiety
وحُسْنُ خُلْقٍ مَعَ دِيانهْ
beauty of form with chastity,
A beautiful form with modesty
and goodness of character with piety;
A good character with faith
كَذاكَlikewise حُسْنُgoodness الإخاfellowship قَليلُrare
كَذاكَ حُسْنُ الإخا قَليلُ
بأنْin that تَراهُyou see it مَعَwith الأَمانَهْtrustworthiness
بأنْ تَراهُ مَعَ الأَمانَهْ
likewise, good fellowship is seldom
As well good morals are rare
seen together with trustworthiness.
