الحَمْدُpraise للهِto God عَلَىin كُلِّevery حالْstate
الحَمْدُ للهِ عَلَى كُلِّ حالْ
حَمْداًpraise يُقَصِّرْfalls short عَنْهُof it طُولُlength الْمَقَالْspeech
حَمْداً يُقَصِّرْ عَنْهُ طُولُ الْمَقَالْ
Praise be to God in every state,
Praise be to Allah in every state,
praise that lengthy speech falls short of expressing.
A praise that the length of speech falls short of.
أَنالَنيHe granted me ماwhat لَسْتُI am not أَهْلاًworthy لَهُof it
أَنالَني ما لَسْتُ أَهْلاً لَهُ
فَضْلاًas grace وطَوْلاًand bounty منfrom عَظيمِgreat in الجَلالْmajesty
فَضْلاً وطَوْلاً من عَظيمِ الجَلالْ
He has granted me what I am not worthy of,
He granted me what I am not worthy of,
as grace and bounty from the One of great majesty.
Bounty and favor from the One of Great Majesty.
فَلَسْتُso I do not اُحْصِيcount جاهِداًstriving حَمْدَهُpraise of Him
فَلَسْتُ اُحْصِي جاهِداً حَمْدَهُ
وشُكْرَهُand thanks to Him فيin كُلِّevery حِينٍtime وحَالْand state
وشُكْرَهُ في كُلِّ حِينٍ وحَالْ
So, strive though I may, I cannot count the praise due to Him
I cannot enumerate praising Him,
and the thanks due to Him, at every time and in every state.
And thanking Him at all times and states.
حَمْداًpraise كَعَدٍّlike the number of الحَمْدِthe praise مِنْfrom كُلِّevery ذِيpossessor of
حَمْداً كَعَدٍّ الحَمْدِ مِنْ كُلِّ ذِي
حَمْدٍpraise وتَعْدادِand the count of الحَصَىthe pebbles والرِّمالْand the sands
حَمْدٍ وتَعْدادِ الحَصَى والرِّمالْ
Praise equal in number to the praises of every giver of
Praise, like the number of those who praise
praise, and to the count of pebbles and grains of sand.
And the number of pebbles and grains of sand.
