O you whose mind gives you

A sword sharper than cleaving blades,

What is a three-letter name, called

A sword sharper than cleaving blades?

And in its heart lies the malady of hearts—

    Without denial by any gainsayer.

And when it changes form, you would think it

Obedient to the reins of every poet.

And when its middle letter is removed,

Then the heart slips; ask, and debate.

A riddle has reached you, and it is an explicit

Declaration of what we discuss within it.

    After this explicit declaration, in

Revealing what is meant, no lock remains; so make haste.
