يا دِيارَ الْكِبْسِ حَيّاكِ الْحَيَا
بالْمُلِثِّwith persistent rain الْجَوْدِcopious rain وَافِيabundant in الْوَكَفِrainfall
بالْمُلِثِّ الْجَوْدِ وَافِي الْوَكَفِ
O dwellings of al-Kibs, may the rain greet you
O home of nobility, I greet you
With steady, copious showers, abundant in their flow.
With generous hospitality and overflowing munificence
هِجْرَةُrefuge الأَعْلامِthe luminaries مَنْthose who قَدْindeed هَجَرواthey have shunned
هِجْرَةُ الأَعْلامِ مَنْ قَدْ هَجَروا
كُلَّall هُجْرٍfoul speech خَلَفاًsuccessors عَنْfollowing سَلَفِforebears
كُلَّ هُجْرٍ خَلَفاً عَنْ سَلَفِ
Refuge of the luminaries, who have shunned
The emigration of the nobles, those who have emigrated
All foul speech, generation after generation.
