أعِدْ نَظَراً في مُحْكَمِ الذّكْرِ إنَّهُ

أعِدْ نَظَراً في مُحْكَمِ الذّكْرِ إنَّهُ

يُكَرَّرُ فيه ما بِهِ الكَشْفُ والحَلُّ

يُكَرَّرُ فيه ما بِهِ الكَشْفُ والحَلُّ

Look again into the clear text of the Remembrance; indeed,

Reconsider the decisive scripture, for within it

What brings clarification and resolution is repeated in it.

Is repeated that by which comes revelation and resolution.

أَما فِيه غُفْرانُ الذُّنوبِ جَميعِها

أَما فِيه غُفْرانُ الذُّنوبِ جَميعِها

إذَا لَمْ يكُنْ شِرْكاً وذَاكَ هُوَ القُلُّ

إذَا لَمْ يكُنْ شِرْكاً وذَاكَ هُوَ القُلُّ

Is there not forgiveness in it for all sins,

Indeed, within it is the forgiveness of all sins,

Provided the sin is not associating partners with God—and that is the small portion?

If they be not polytheism - and that is the whole.

وَقَدْ قالَ في العافِينَ في قوله ألاَ

وَقَدْ قالَ في العافِينَ في قوله ألاَ

تُحِبُّونَ فافْهَمْ سِرَّ هَذا الذي تَتْلو

تُحِبُّونَ فافْهَمْ سِرَّ هَذا الذي تَتْلو

And He has spoken of those who pardon, in His words, “Do you not

And He has said, regarding those pardoned, in His word "Do you not love" -

Love...?” So understand the secret of what you recite.

So understand the secret of this you recite.

وَكَمْ آيةٍ جاءَتْ بِهَذَا وسُنَّةٍ

وَكَمْ آيةٍ جاءَتْ بِهَذَا وسُنَّةٍ

وفي بَعْضِها من ذلك البَعْضُ والكُلُّ

وفي بَعْضِها من ذلك البَعْضُ والكُلُّ

And many a verse and prophetic tradition has conveyed this,

And how many a verse has come with this, and tradition -

And in some of them are part of that and the whole.

And in some of it is part, and in some all.

فإنْ كانَ هذا مِنْ تجاهُلِ عَارِفٍ

فإنْ كانَ هذا مِنْ تجاهُلِ عَارِفٍ

فَذَاكَ وإلاّ فهو في نَفسِهِ الجَهْلُ

فَذَاكَ وإلاّ فهو في نَفسِهِ الجَهْلُ

If, then, this comes from a knowledgeable person's feigned ignorance,

So if this is from an aware one's ignorance,

Then so be it; otherwise, it is ignorance itself.

Then so be it, but if not, then it is ignorance itself.
