    It came forth, reporting on the matter that

    Muhammad ibn Abi al-Rijal complains of.

    فانْظُرْ لِتَعْلَمَ أَيُّنا المتَشَدِّدُ

    And to you, O pride of humankind, I sent it;

    so examine it to learn which of us is unyielding.

    And many a time the millstone of judgment has turned upon

    a man, who then kept straying from the truth.

    مَنْ ذا يُطيقُ لِكُلِّ ثُلْمٍ يَسْدُدُ

    Time and its people habitually open breaches;

    who can manage to close every breach?

    So if you hear a distorted statement

    about a judgment, voiced by a critic,

    know that, among people, one who wins a judgment

    is pleased, while one ruled against is grief-stricken.

    By God, they were not satisfied with Muhammad’s words,

    though he is the Messenger and his word is not to be rejected.

    No indeed, nor were they satisfied with Haydar’s words,

    though he is the chosen Imam, diligent in devotion.

    So when will you see them accept my words

    without bringing forth what does not exist?

    And to you, O son of the noblest, a greeting

    from me—and that is everlasting peace.
