أَجَزْتُكَ في فُنُونِ العِلْمِ طُرّاً

أَجَزْتُكَ في فُنُونِ العِلْمِ طُرّاً

فَأَنْتَ لِذَاكَ عِزَّ الدّينِ أَهْلُ

فَأَنْتَ لِذَاكَ عِزَّ الدّينِ أَهْلُ

I have granted you authorization in all branches of knowledge;

I have certified you in the sciences, flying high,

For you, ʿIzz al-Dīn, are worthy of that:

So you are for that the pillar of the religion, worthy.

بِمَسْمُوعي ومَقْرُوئي ومِنْها

بِمَسْمُوعي ومَقْرُوئي ومِنْها

وِجَادَاتِي وذَاكَ هُوَ الأَقَلُّ

وِجَادَاتِي وذَاكَ هُوَ الأَقَلُّ

In what I have heard and read—and among these

Based on what I have heard and read, and less so

Are the writings I found, which form the smallest share;

My compositions, though that is the lesser part.

كَذَلِك ما أَجَازَتْ لي شُيُوخٌ

كَذَلِك ما أَجَازَتْ لي شُيُوخٌ

لَهُمْ بَيْنَ الوَرَى فَضْلٌ ونُبْلُ

لَهُمْ بَيْنَ الوَرَى فَضْلٌ ونُبْلُ

Likewise, in what teachers have authorized me to transmit,

Likewise, the licenses granted me by shaykhs

Who possess distinction and nobility among humankind.

Distinguished and noble among all humanity-

فَصِلْني بالدُّعاءِ علَى التّنائي

فَصِلْني بالدُّعاءِ علَى التّنائي

بَقِيتَ لِكُلِّ مَسْأَلَةٍ تَحُلُّ

بَقِيتَ لِكُلِّ مَسْأَلَةٍ تَحُلُّ

So keep in touch with me through prayer, despite our distance;

Join me in prayer perpetually, as long as

May you live on, solving every question.

You remain solving every problem that arises.
