أَسْتَودِعُI entrust اللهَGod سَيْفاًa sword جَرّدُوهُthey unsheathed it عَلىagainst
أَسْتَودِعُ اللهَ سَيْفاً جَرّدُوهُ عَلى
مَفارِقٍcrowns of heads فَرَّقَتْdivided دِينَthe faith الْهُدَىguidance فِرَقاinto sects
مَفارِقٍ فَرَّقَتْ دِينَ الْهُدَى فِرَقا
I entrust to God a sword they have unsheathed against
I entrust to God a sword unsheathed against
heads that have divided the faith of guidance into sects.
An apostate who broke the faith into pieces
ياO رَبِّmy Lord حُطْprotect بِصَفِيِّthrough Safi الدينal-Din (of the faith) حَوْزَتَناour domain
يا رَبِّ حُطْ بِصَفِيِّ الدين حَوْزَتَنا
وادْفَعْand repel بِهِthrough him بَغْيَthe aggression مَنْwhoever مِنْfrom دينناour faith مَرَقاhas departed
وادْفَعْ بِهِ بَغْيَ مَنْ مِنْ ديننا مَرَقا
O Lord, through Safi al-Din protect our domain,
O Lord, strengthen our faithful religion
and through him repel the aggression of whoever has departed from our faith.
And repel with it the mischief of those who deviated from our faith
واجْعَلْهُand make him حامِيthe guardian of حِمَىthe sanctuary الإسْلامِIslam منْagainst نَفَرٍa band of men
واجْعَلْهُ حامِي حِمَى الإسْلامِ منْ نَفَرٍ
لمdid not يَعْرِفُواthey know لِنَواحِيto the precincts of دينناour faith طُرُقاpaths
لم يَعْرِفُوا لِنَواحِي ديننا طُرُقا
And make him the guardian of Islam’s sanctuary against a band of men
And make it defender of the territory of Islam from a group
who have known no paths to the precincts of our faith.
