أَنَاI الْمُفَرِّطُthe negligent one حَقَاtruly
أَنَاI الْمُخَلِّطُone who mixes good deeds with bad صِدْقَاtruly
I am truly remiss.
I am truly the neglectful one,
I truly mingle good deeds with bad.
I am truly the confused one,
لَكِنْbut تَفَضُّلُgrace رَبِّيmy Lord
مَنْwhoever نَالَهُreceives it لَيْسَdoes not يَشْقَىsuffer
But my Lord's grace—
But my Lord is most generous
Whoever receives it does not suffer.
To those who gain His favor, they shall not suffer,
وَعَادَةُand the custom السَّادَةِof masters الْعَفْوُpardoning
عَنْfor ذَنْبِthe sin مَنْof whoever كَانَwas رِقّاa slave
And it is the custom of masters to pardon
It is the way of the noble to pardon
The sin of one who is a slave.
The sin of those humble and meek,
فَكَيْفَthen how much more رَبُّthe Lord الْبَرَاياof all creatures
وَوَاسِعُand bountiful to الْخَلْقِcreation رِزْقاin sustenance
Then what of the Lord of all creatures,
How then the Lord of all creation
Who provides for creation so abundantly?
Vast in sustenance and bounty,
والظَّنُّand the opinion منّيfrom me جَمِيلٌgood
وَمَنْand whoever رَجاhopes for الْفَضْلَgrace يَلْقَىwill find it
And I think well of Him;
My hopes in Him are beautiful,
And whoever hopes for grace will find it.
Whoever hopes for grace will attain it.
