جسْمٌ أَقَامَ بإِبٍّ

جسْمٌ أَقَامَ بإِبٍّ

والرُّوحُ في سُوحِ صَنْعا

والرُّوحُ في سُوحِ صَنْعا

A body has settled in Ibb,

while the spirit is in the courtyards of Sana'a.

فَاعْجَبْ لِرُوحِ مُقيمٍ

فَاعْجَبْ لِرُوحِ مُقيمٍ

وَلمْ يفارِقْ رَبْعا

وَلمْ يفارِقْ رَبْعا

So marvel at a resident's spirit,

which has not left its dwelling;

واعْجَبْ لِجِسْمِ غَرِيبٍ

واعْجَبْ لِجِسْمِ غَرِيبٍ

قَدْ سارَ سِتّاً وسَبْعا

قَدْ سارَ سِتّاً وسَبْعا

and marvel at a stranger's body,

which has indeed journeyed six and seven.
