مَنْwhoever رَامَseeks فيin الدُّنْياthis world رِضاءَthe approval of العَالَمِall people
مَنْ رَامَ في الدُّنْيا رِضاءَ العَالَمِ
فَلْيَرْقَthen let him climb أَدْرَاجَthe steps of السَّماheaven بِسَلالِمِwith ladders
فَلْيَرْقَ أَدْرَاجَ السَّما بِسَلالِمِ
Whoever seeks, in this world, the approval of everyone,
Whoever seeks everyone's approval in this world,
let him climb heaven’s stairways with a ladder.
let him climb the steps of heaven with ladders.
النَّاسُpeople فيin كُلِّall الذِيthat which تَأْتِيyou come بِهِwith it
النَّاسُ في كُلِّ الذِي تَأْتِي بِهِ
ما(emphatic particle) بَيْنَbetween رَاضٍone pleased عَنْكَwith you فِيهِregarding it وَرَاغِمِand one resentful
ما بَيْنَ رَاضٍ عَنْكَ فِيهِ وَرَاغِمِ
In everything you undertake, people
People, in everything you do,
range between one pleased with you in it and one resentful.
are either pleased with you for it or resentful.
