I seek spiritual arrival, and the forsaking of all excess;
I seek attainment and the abandonment of idle pursuits.
and make acceptance mine, bringing solace to my eye.
And from You comes acceptance to gladden my eyes.

For after fifty years have passed
For after fifty years have passed
from my life, nothing remains but to attend to my religion.
Of my life, only devotion to my faith remains.

Bound to the hand of divine decree in my affairs.

فَأنْتَfor You إذاwhen شِئْتَYou wish زَيْنَthe adornment of امْرِيءٍa man
فَأنْتَ إذا شِئْتَ زَيْنَ امْرِيءٍ
يُزانُhe is adorned وَإِنْand even if كَانَhe is مُغْرىًdrawn بِشَيْنِto disgrace
يُزانُ وَإِنْ كَانَ مُغْرىً بِشَيْنِ
For if You will a man’s adornment,
For when You desire a man's adornment,
he is adorned, even though enamored of disgrace.
He is adorned, even if he is drawn to disgrace.
