Verse like pearls, its necklace strung
By a keen-witted man whose tongue surpasses the sword.

He has discernment surpassing all discernment,
And a mind that now makes difficult matters clear.

So leave them, Jamal al-Din; I do not fear them,
For no spearhead has ever chipped rock through the ages.

And indeed the howling dogs keep barking
At the full moon of night, as long as the ages pass.

And indeed, when the scattering winds rush
Against the lofty mountains, no heart trembles before them.

And my legal ruling is clearer to behold than the sun's radiance,
Yet the blind do not see the midmorning sun.
