أَلاَLo! قُلْtell لِمَوْلانَاto our lord الإمامِthe Imam مَناخُنَاour encampment
بِحُصْنِat the fortress of مَسارٍMasar لاnot بِحُصْنِat the fortress of شِبَامِShibam
Lo, tell our lord, the Imam: our encampment
Say to our Imam, our refuge is in Masar's fortress, not Shibam's
is at the fortress of Masar, not the fortress of Shibam.
We hope our army will have access to controlled fertile valleys
وإنّاand indeed we نُرَجِّيhope أنthat يُتَاحَmay be granted لجَيْشِناto our army
ذُرَىthe heights of مُتْوَحٍMutwah مُنْقَادَةًyielding بِزِمامِby a rein
And we hope that our army may be granted
If we ascend from Masar, hitting with swords the heads of the unjust
the heights of Mutwah, yielding to the rein.
The whole land will shake with fear and awe
إذَاwhen ما(emphasis) عَلَوْناwe ascend مِنْof مَسارMasar شَمارِخاًtowering peaks
صَفَعْنَاwe slap بِصَعْفانٍat Sa'fan رُؤوسَthe heads of طَغامِrabble
When we ascend the towering peaks of Masar,
Including Hijaz, Najd and Tihama
we slap the rabble's heads at Sa'fan.
وتَهْتَزُّand trembles كُلُّall الأَرْضِthe earth رُعْباًin terror وهَيْبَةًand awe
حِجَازٌHijaz بهاwithin it مَعْwith نَجْدِهاits Najd وتِهامِand Tihama
And all the earth trembles in terror and awe—
Hijaz included, along with its Najd and Tihama.
