ألاBehold إنَّماonly الْعَيْشُlife فيin أَرْبَعٍfour things
ألا إنَّما الْعَيْشُ في أَرْبَعٍ
ولاand no عَيْشَlife فيماin what سِوَىother than الأَرْبَعِthe four
ولا عَيْشَ فيما سِوَى الأَرْبَعِ
Behold, life lies in just four things,
The life of bliss is bound by four,
And there is no life apart from these four:
Outside this four, no life's in store,
شَبابٍyouth وأَمْنٍand security ونَيْلِand attaining الْغِنَىwealth
شَبابٍ وأَمْنٍ ونَيْلِ الْغِنَى
وصِحَّةِand health جِسْمِbody الْفَتَىthe young man الأَرْوَعِthe admirable
وصِحَّةِ جِسْمِ الْفَتَى الأَرْوَعِ
Youth, security, and the attainment of wealth,
Youth and wealth, security and health,
And health in the admirable young man's body.
Of handsome boys are life and wealth.
