تَقَدَّمُtakes precedence over الصّثحْبَةَcompanionship ياO ذاpossessor of النُّهَىunderstanding
تَقَدَّمُ الصّثحْبَةَ يا ذا النُّهَى
قَرَابَةٌkinship مَرْعِيَّةٌdeserving respect فارْعَهاso honor it
قَرَابَةٌ مَرْعِيَّةٌ فارْعَها
Before companionship, O man of understanding,
Advance in the early morning, O you of high purpose,
comes kinship deserving respect—so honor it.
A spiritual kinship is pasturage, so pasture it.
