أَتَتْناcame to us مَعَwith الرُّكْبانِthe riders أَخْبارُnews فاضِلٍa learned man
أَتَتْنا مَعَ الرُّكْبانِ أَخْبارُ فاضِلٍ
لَهُhe has فيin فُنُونِbranches العِلْمknowledge حَظٌّa share مُوَفَّرُabundant
لَهُ في فُنُونِ العِلْم حَظٌّ مُوَفَّرُ
With the caravan-riders came tidings of a man of learning,
News of a learned man came to us with the riders.
Whose share in every branch of knowledge is abundant.
He has an abundant share in the branches of knowledge.
فَلِلَّهِso, to God شرْوانٌShirwan لَقَدْindeed أَخْرَجَتْit brought forth لَناfor us
فَلِلَّهِ شرْوانٌ لَقَدْ أَخْرَجَتْ لَنا
فَتىًa young man جاءَappeared فيin أَسْفارِهِhis books العِلْمُknowledge يَسْفِرُshines forth
فَتىً جاءَ في أَسْفارِهِ العِلْمُ يَسْفِرُ
What a marvel my Shirwān is! It has indeed brought him forth for us—
Praise be to God for Shirwan! It has indeed brought forth for us
A youth in whose books knowledge came forth, unveiling itself:
A young man in whose books knowledge shines forth.
عَجائِبُwonders أَخْبارٍaccounts غَرائِبُmarvels صَنْعَةٍcraftsmanship
عَجائِبُ أَخْبارٍ غَرائِبُ صَنْعَةٍ
مَناقِبُvirtues جَمْعٍa group فيamong البَرِيَّةِhumankind تُذْكَرُare recounted
مَناقِبُ جَمْعٍ في البَرِيَّةِ تُذْكَرُ
Wonders of lore, marvels of artistry,
Wonders of accounts, marvels of craftsmanship,
The virtues of a company, recounted among humankind.
The virtues of a group, recounted among humankind.
