لَمْ أَزَلْ أَرْقُبُ وَعْداً

لَمْ أَزَلْ أَرْقُبُ وَعْداً

مِنْكَ يا زَيْنَ الزَّمانِ

مِنْكَ يا زَيْنَ الزَّمانِ

I have never ceased awaiting a promise

I have not ceased to await a promise

From you, O ornament of the age.

From you, O beauty of the age,

وَأَرَى كَفِّيَ تَجْنِي الْ

وَأَرَى كَفِّيَ تَجْنِي الْ

يَأْسَ مِنْ رَوْضِ الأَمانِي

يَأْسَ مِنْ رَوْضِ الأَمانِي

And I see my hand gathering

And I see my palms reaping despair

Despair from the garden of hopes.

From the garden of wishes,

بالّذِي صَيَّرَ قَلْبِي

بالّذِي صَيَّرَ قَلْبِي

لِلْهَوى فِيكَ مُعانِي

لِلْهَوى فِيكَ مُعانِي

By the One who made my heart

By Him who made my heart

Suffer from love for you,

For love of you full of meanings,

و بِبَيْنٍ بَعْدَ بَيْنٍ

و بِبَيْنٍ بَعْدَ بَيْنٍ

مِنْكَ ما عِشْتُ بَلاني

مِنْكَ ما عِشْتُ بَلاني

And, with parting after parting

And after a separation, another separation

From you, afflicted me throughout my life—

From you - as long as I live, trials afflict me.

إنْ تُواصِلْنِي ولا يَعْ

إنْ تُواصِلْنِي ولا يَعْ

لَقُ في الْحُبِّ رِهاني

لَقُ في الْحُبِّ رِهاني

If you keep your bond with me, and my pledge

If you were to keep in touch with me, no

Does not remain bound in love,

Bet of love would trouble me.

كُنْتُ في أَمْنٍ مِنَ الْبَيْ

كُنْتُ في أَمْنٍ مِنَ الْبَيْ

نِ إذا بَيْنٌ دَهانِي

نِ إذا بَيْنٌ دَهانِي

I would be safe from parting

I was safe from separation

Should parting befall me.

When a separation beguiled me.
