How long will this worry and grief last?
Until when, O heavy with woe
Does wisdom call for anything like this?
Should one so wise bear patiently?
وأَنْتَand you عَبْدٌa servant تَحْتَunder حُكْمِthe rule of القَضاdivine decree
لَيْسَthere is no لَهُfor him فيover نَفْسِهِhis own self حُكْمُauthority
And you are a servant under the rule of divine decree,
You but a slave, by fate controlled,
who has no authority over himself.
Of your own self, are not the lord
فَفَوِّضِso entrust الأَمْرَthe matter وكُنْand be واثِقاًconfident

So entrust the matter, and be confident
So trust your fate; be well-assured;
in Him to whom belong governance and knowledge.
He knows and orders all.
