وَقَدْ قَطَعَتْ في حُبِّهِمْ كُلَّ فَدْفَدِ
And no mother bird with hungry fledglings in her nest—
A joyous one with hungry chicks in her nest
having crossed every wasteland out of love for them,
She had sacrificed everything for their love

وضَاقت بها طُرْقُ المكاسِبِ عَنْ يَدِ
then finding nothing to ward off their suffering,
Yet she lacked what would spare them of harm
with every path to sustenance beyond her reach,
The ways to provide for them escaped her

letting her wings droop from weakness and curling up
Her wings drooped in weakness and she wavered
on a spreading tree's bough, in sight of her young—
On a branch of her tree in plain view

More helpless than I, if I neglect my duties
afflicted by poverty concealed by their fortitude.
To those whose poverty they try to hide
