وخَوَّلُونَاand they granted us مِنَof النَّعْماءِblessings ماشِيناwhat we wished
They added for us ten and a few more beyond sixty,
And granted us whatever blessings we wished for.
جَادُواthey gave generously لَناto us بالذِيwith what نَهْوَىwe desire فَشُكْرُكُمُso thanking you
حَقٌّa duty عَلَيْناupon us ولَكِنْand yet أيْنَwhere ذاthis أَيْناwhere
They generously gave us what we desire; so thanking you
Is our duty—but where is such gratitude, where?
فَإنَّfor indeed مِنْfrom فَضْلِهِمْtheir bounty نَفْسِيmy self وَحَسْبُكَand enough for you ذَاthis
وإنَّand indeed مِنْfrom فَضْلِهِمْtheir bounty دُنيايَmy worldly life والدنِّياand the world
For my very self is part of their bounty—and this is enough for you;
And my worldly life and the world are part of their bounty.
