وَلِيتُI held الْحُكْمَjudicial office فَوْقَmore than الأَرْبَعِيناforty
وَلِيتُ الْحُكْمَ فَوْقَ الأَرْبَعِينا
وَذَاكَand that النِّصْفُhalf مِنْof عُمْريmy life يَقِيناcertainly
وَذَاكَ النِّصْفُ مِنْ عُمْري يَقِينا
I held judicial office for more than forty years,
If only I had ruled after forty,
And that is certainly half my life.
And half my life was surely over,
فَلَمْso did not يَجِدُواthey find لِعِرْضيin my honor قَطُّever شَيْناa blemish
فَلَمْ يَجِدُوا لِعِرْضي قَطُّ شَيْنا
وَلاَand not قَالُواthey said فُلانٌso-and-so قَدْindeed رشيناwe were bribed (unclear in context)
وَلاَ قَالُوا فُلانٌ قَدْ رشينا
So they never found any blemish in my honor,
They would have found no fault with my honor,
Nor did they say, 'So-and-so had been bribed' [the verb literally means 'we were bribed'; the wording is unclear].
Nor said so-and-so's palms we did grease.
