مَنْwho ذَاis it that يُطِيقُcan manage لِرَبِّهِto his Lord

شُكْراًthanks عَلَىfor بَعْضِsome of النِّعَمْthe blessings
Who can render to his Lord
thanks for even some of His blessings?
وَأَناand I الذيthe one who أُعْطيتُwas given مِنْfrom
إفْضَالِهِHis bounty القَسْمَthe share الأَتَمْthe fullest
And I am one who has been granted, from
His bounty, the fullest share.
فَمَتىthen when أطِيقُcan I manage الشُّكْرَgiving thanks فيfor
بَعْضٍa part منَof البَعْضِthe portion الأَعَمْthe more encompassing
When, then, could I give thanks for
a fraction of that vast portion?
بَلْrather لاnot أطيقُcan I manage الشُّكْرَgiving thanks فيfor
فَرْدٍa single one وَلَوْand even if لِيI had أَلْفُa thousand فَمْmouths
Rather, I cannot give thanks for
a single blessing, even if I had a thousand mouths.

So overlook, O Allah, the faults of
a servant—for generosity is Your way.
