O King of kings, grant me what I hope for.
O King of kings, grant me my wishes
And soothe a heart afflicted by longing.
And soothe a heart burdened with longing

You are the One who gives and withholds, and who
You give and withhold, confer and deprive
Bestows favors and benefits the learned and the ignorant.
Whether learned or ignorant, You rule all
ماwhat قَدْرُthe measure ماwhat أَبْغِيهِI seek it منْfrom إفْضالِthe bounty مَنْof one who

How great is what I seek from the bounty of Him
What worth are the favors I seek
Who possesses the earth, its breadth and length?
From the One who owns the earth, breadth and length?
ياO رَبِّmy Lord قَدْindeed عَوَّدْتُI have accustomed نَفْسِيmyself عادَةًa habit
أَلاَّnot to أَكُونَbe لِمَنْto anyone who سِواكَother than You سَؤُولاa persistent petitioner
O my Lord, I have accustomed myself to a habit:
O Lord, I've accustomed my soul
Not to be ever begging of anyone but You.
To seek from none but You, no other
فاحْفَظْso preserve عَلَيَّfor me وحُطْand guard بِفَضْلِكَwith Your grace عادَتيmy habit
كَيْso that لاnot أَرَىI see عَقْداًa knot لَهاof it مَحْلُولاundone
So preserve my habit for me, and guard it with Your grace,
So preserve my ways through Your grace
So that I may not see its knot undone.
Lest I see my covenants annulled

واسْبِلْand let hang down عَلَيَّover me مِنَfrom السُّتُورِthe veils ذُيولاtrailing hems
And drench the sleeve of my modesty with the downpour of bounty,
Drench me in the downpour of Your bounty
And let the trailing hems of veils fall over me.
And around me wrap many veils
وَأَطِلْand lengthen عِنانَthe rein تَصَرُّفِيmy actions فيin مَرْبَعٍa pasture
للرِّزْقِfor sustenance قَدْindeed صَيَّرْتَهُYou have made it مَأْهُولاinhabited
And give my actions a longer rein in a pasture
Give free rein to provide my livelihood
For sustenance, which You have made inhabited.
For You've made rizq's channels plentiful
