You were generous to me with lemons, O brother of bounty;
You have gifted me a lemon, brother of dew
And to me it was among the finest gifts:
And I had the finest of gifts for you
مِنَfrom البُرتقالِthe oranges الحلوِsweet طَعماًin taste وَإنَّهُand indeed it

From the sweet-tasting oranges—and indeed it
Of sweet orange flavor, so good indeed
Is large, beautifully formed on every side.
Big and beautiful, perfect in every way
كَأَنَّكَas though you قَدhad طُلتَyou obtained النُّجومَthe stars مِنَfrom السّماthe sky
فَأَهدَيتَنيand so you gave me مِنهاfrom among them بُدورَfull moons of الكَواكبِthe stars
As though you had obtained the stars from the sky,
As if you had plucked stars out of the sky
And so you gave me, from among them, the full moons of the stars.
And gifted their orbs to me this day
