نَعمyes كُلَّماwhenever اِلتَفَتturned الحِبُّthe beloved خَلفاbackward
نَعم كُلَّما اِلتَفَت الحِبُّ خَلفا
رَآنيhe saw me يَقولُhe says وَرائيbehind me أَراكْI see you
رَآني يَقولُ وَرائي أَراكْ
Yes, whenever the beloved turned to look behind,
Yes, whenever love looked back
He saw me and said, “I see you behind me.”
It saw me saying, behind me I see you
فَفتّنيso he crushed me فَقلتso I said فَديتُكَmay I be your ransom دَعنيleave me be
فَفتّني فَقلت فَديتُكَ دَعني
فَكَيفَso how تَروحُyou go فَإِنّيfor I am وَراكbehind you
فَكَيفَ تَروحُ فَإِنّي وَراك
So he crushed me, and I said, “May I be your ransom, leave me be!
So it tempted me and I said, I devote myself to you, leave me be
How can you go, when I am behind you?”
How could you go when I am behind you
