إِذا سُئِلت فَلا تَترُك مُراجَعةً

إِذا سُئِلت فَلا تَترُك مُراجَعةً

فَالعِلمُ آفتُهُ لا شكَّ نِسيانُ

فَالعِلمُ آفتُهُ لا شكَّ نِسيانُ

When you are asked, do not neglect review;

When questioned, do not neglect to review,

for knowledge’s bane is, without doubt, forgetfulness.

Knowledge's downfall is undoubtedly forgetfulness.

وَاِجْفُ اِعتَمادَك ما في الذّهن تَخزِنُهُ

وَاِجْفُ اِعتَمادَك ما في الذّهن تَخزِنُهُ

فَقَد يُقالُ بِأَنّ الذّهنَ خوّانُ

فَقَد يُقالُ بِأَنّ الذّهنَ خوّانُ

And shun your reliance on what you store in the mind,

Turn away reliance on what you store in your mind,

for it may be said that the mind is treacherous.

For it is said that the mind is treacherous.
