The lord of beauty cleaned his teeth with a tooth-stick;
The lips sipped rosedew from the brushwood-twigs,
the stick then sipped the tawny wine behind his lips.
And he said, for shoots of the grove were in leaf,

It said, having sprouted leaves from a sudden fright:
"Ye marvel that waters of life I should drink;" -
“Do not marvel: I have drunk the water of life.”
Wonder not! Waters of life have I quaffed.
