خَيرُthe best الأمُورِof affairs إِذاwhen حقّقتyou examine closely أَوسَطُهاtheir middle course
خَيرُ الأمُورِ إِذا حقّقت أَوسَطُها
فَخَلِّso leave aside عَنكِaway from you كَذيlike one guilty of التفريطِfalling short مفرطَهاthe one who goes to excess in them
فَخَلِّ عَنكِ كَذي التفريطِ مفرطَها
The best of affairs, when you examine them closely, is their middle course.
The best of matters is the middle course
So shun the one who goes to excess in them, as you would the one who falls short.
So leave excess and deficiency behind
وَكَيفَand how وَالصَّادقُand the truthful one المَصدوقُthe one confirmed as truthful قالَsaid بِهِin support of it
وَكَيفَ وَالصَّادقُ المَصدوقُ قالَ بِهِ
وَالشَّمسُand the sun حَلَّتhas settled مِنَamong الأَفلاكِthe celestial spheres أَوسطَهاtheir middlemost
وَالشَّمسُ حَلَّت مِنَ الأَفلاكِ أَوسطَها
And how could it be otherwise, when the truthful, trusted one has affirmed it?
How could it not be so when the truthful trusted one said it
And the sun has settled in the middlemost of the celestial spheres.
And the sun occupies the central spot among the spheres
