عامُنا القابِلُ الَّذي قَد أَتانا
عامُa year خيرٍgoodness وفيand among السنينَthe years غريبُrare
عامُ خيرٍ وفي السنينَ غريبُ
Our coming year, which has come to us,
Our coming year that has come upon us
Is a year of goodness, and rare among the years.
A year of goodness though strange among years
إِنْif يَكُنit is بِالسّرورِwith joy فيin كلِّevery خَصبٍabundance
إِنْ يَكُن بِالسّرورِ في كلِّ خَصبٍ
أَرّخواrecord the date شيبَgray hair فهوَfor it is عامٌa year خَصيبُfruitful
أَرّخوا شيبَ فهوَ عامٌ خَصيبُ
If it be joyful amid every abundance,
If it comes with joy in every fertility
Record its date: 'Gray hair—for it is a fruitful year.'
Date its gray hairs, for it is a plentiful year
