ياO طيبَsweetness هَذاthis الحَوضِthe basin فيin نَفَحاتِهِits fragrant wafts
يا طيبَ هَذا الحَوضِ في نَفَحاتِهِ
فَلَقَدfor indeed حَكىresembled بِالنّشرِin fragrance مِسْكاًmusk أَذفراintensely fragrant
فَلَقَد حَكى بِالنّشرِ مِسْكاً أَذفرا
Oh, how sweet are this basin's fragrant wafts!
O goodness, this basin in its exhalations
For its fragrance is indeed like intensely scented musk.
Has certainly narrated musk through its sprinkling
فَكَأَنّهُso it is as though بِبِنائِهِin its construction مِنfrom نَظمِهِits ordered design
فَكَأَنّهُ بِبِنائِهِ مِن نَظمِهِ
فيin أَحسنِfinest الترتيبِthe arrangement يَحكيresembles الجَوهَراjewels
في أَحسنِ الترتيبِ يَحكي الجَوهَرا
Thus, in the ordered design of its construction, it seems
So it is as if in its structure of prose
To resemble jewels in the finest arrangement.
It recounts the finest pearls in the best order
وَلَهُand for it سُلَيمانُSulayman الزّمانthe age قَدِindeed اِبتَنىbuilt
وَلَهُ سُلَيمانُ الزّمان قَدِ اِبتَنى
أَجرىmade flow لَهُfor it ماءًwater يَفوقُsurpasses السكَّراsugar
أَجرى لَهُ ماءً يَفوقُ السكَّرا
And the age's Sulayman has built it;
And for it Solomon of time has built
He made water flow for it, sweeter than sugar.
Flowing for it water sweeter than sugar
قَدindeed طابَwas pleasant شُرباًto drink حيثُsince راقَwas clear زُلالُهits pure water
قَد طابَ شُرباً حيثُ راقَ زُلالُه
وَلَقَدand indeed حَلاwas pleasing أرَّختهI recorded its date ليto me مَنظَراin appearance
وَلَقَد حَلا أرَّخته لي مَنظَرا
It is delightful to drink, so clear is its pure water;
Pleasant is its drinking where its limpidity has flowed
And it is indeed lovely to my eyes—I recorded its date.
And it has presented to me a splendid view
