O man of fortitude, O sun of the vizierate, O

master of courage, may weariness never draw near you.

    عافاكَ رَبّي وَلا ضَرَّتكَ أَدواءُ

    You complained of pain, O intrepid lion of al-Shara;

may my Lord heal you, and may no illnesses harm you.

God, out of His love for you, attends to you,

with kindness through this; may no affliction touch you.

And praise be to God: He has now bestowed mercy,

since He has healed you, and weakness and disease have vanished.

Then joy filled our inmost depths,

and at that, gladness settled in our heart.

And when, at your recovery, glad tidings came to you,

of what made Sidon and Acre blossom,

and Beirut likewise, since through time it has been linked

to you, an honor for it that healers desired.

Likewise spacious Tripoli; may there ever be

growing radiance for you in these lands.

Those glad tidings came to you, announcing

what made the reaches of this world shine:

that the confirmation of Sidon together with Tripoli

under your authority this year—and confirmation means retention—

was bestowed upon you, generously and honorably,

out of its bounty, by a lofty, radiant state.

Exalted in stature—may God strengthen its might,

and may His exaltation of it endure through time.

From our praised sultan—may there never cease

the flourishing of his bright, radiant days.

Likewise, may his state forever continue

to grow stronger, with no impoverishment ever overtaking it.

May it endure perpetually, never passing away,

and may neither extinction nor destruction befall it.

Wedded to victory, with conquest then attending it,

its enemies die of fear at its renown.

Since it came at your recovery, by God, there proved true for us

a hopeful reading of the omen, free from error:

that your life is long and ample,

enduring a while, with further respite through time.

    فَذَا البقاءُ عَلَيهِ دَلَّ الاِبقاءُ

    This retention pointed us toward your continued life;

for that continued life was what retention signified.

    صَلاةُ رَبّي عَلَيهِ ما جَرى ماءُ

    And good omens indeed delighted the Chosen One;

my Lord's blessings upon him as long as water flows.

    فَالبَأسُ زالَ وَزالَ السّوءُ وَالداءُ

    Rejoice in this, Solomon of the age, and take pride;

for affliction has passed, and harm and disease have passed.

May your breast ever be at ease, never distressed, nor

may adversity ever befall you, my lord.

With peace of mind, your thoughts free of cloudiness,

and sound in thought; may no judgments betray you.

Broad in influence, lofty in standing, possessed of honor,

borne in glory toward might by an exalted height.

Of praiseworthy fame, happy and untroubled,

with enemies never obtaining from you what they desire.

In a state that has been built upon piety and justice,

whose pillars forbearance and generosity have raised.

May it be like the sun forever among states,

a radiance from it shining upon them through time.

    وَالعدل مِيزانُها وَالعزّ جوزاءُ

    In the mansions of good fortune, it appears forever radiant;

justice is its Libra, and might its Gemini.

May it endure through time while we shelter beneath it,

and may its shades endure for us forever.

As long as a star shines and branches on hills sway,

and as long as a gray dove sings joyfully in the groves.
