ياO خالهُhis mole أَنتَyou قَلبيmy heart حلّsettled on وَجنتهِhis cheek
يا خالهُ أَنتَ قَلبي حلّ وَجنتهِ
فَأَحرقتهُso it burned it مَتىwhen مِنهاfrom it يَعودُwill it return لِيَاto me
فَأَحرقتهُ مَتى مِنها يَعودُ لِيَا
O his mole, you are my heart, which settled on his cheek;
O my mole, you are my heart's solace and its paradise
then his cheek burned it—when will it return from there to me?
So you have burned it - when will it return to me?
فَإِنْso if أَصِلْهُI reach it بِتَقبيلٍby kissing فَلاthen no عَجبwonder
فَإِنْ أَصِلْهُ بِتَقبيلٍ فَلا عَجب
فَإِنّماfor … is but الخالُthe mole مِنof لَحميmy flesh وَمِنand of دمِياmy blood
فَإِنّما الخالُ مِن لَحمي وَمِن دمِيا
So if I reach it with a kiss, it is no wonder:
If I touch it with a kiss, do not be surprised
for the mole is but a part of my flesh and blood.
For a mole is made of my flesh and my blood, my dear
