يا بارِداً أَفْرَطَتْ فيهِ بُرودَته
يَمَلُّhe tires مِنof سَهَرِstaying awake at night الأَحبابِthe loved ones لَوif سَهِرواthey stayed awake
يَمَلُّ مِن سَهَرِ الأَحبابِ لَو سَهِروا
O cold one, whose coldness has gone to excess,
Oh cold one, excessive is your frigidity
who tires of loved ones’ wakefulness if they stay awake.
It wearies me, the night vigil of loved ones, even if they kept vigil
أَلَستَare you not تَعلَمُyou know طولَlength العمرِlife فيin سَهرٍstaying awake at night
أَلَستَ تَعلَمُ طولَ العمرِ في سَهرٍ
إِنif كانَis يَحصلoccurring مَعwith أَحبابِكَyour loved ones السهَرُthe wakefulness
إِن كانَ يَحصل مَع أَحبابِكَ السهَرُ
Do you not know that long life lies in staying awake,
Do you not know lifelong in vigil
if that wakefulness is shared with your loved ones?
If with your loved ones is found vigil
