أَباO father of بَكرٍBakr عَلاكَovercame you الغيظُanger مِنّيbecause of me
أَبا بَكرٍ عَلاكَ الغيظُ مِنّي
وَفيكَand for you مَوَدَّتيmy affection حَقٌّtruth وَصِدقُand sincerity
وَفيكَ مَوَدَّتي حَقٌّ وَصِدقُ
O Abu Bakr, anger at me has overcome you.
Oh Abu Bakr, my anger towards you
And my affection for you is true and sincere.
And my love for you is true and honest
فَصفوَاًso, goodwill إِنّكindeed, you الأَحرىthe most suited بِصَفحٍto pardoning
فَصفوَاً إِنّك الأَحرى بِصَفحٍ
وَغَيظُand the anger المُؤمِنِof the believer المَحمودِthe praiseworthy بَرْقُa flash of lightning
وَغَيظُ المُؤمِنِ المَحمودِ بَرْقُ
So let there be goodwill; indeed, you are best suited to pardon.
So forgive me, for you are most deserving of forgiveness
And the anger of a praiseworthy believer is a flash of lightning.
And a believer's anger is but a fleeting flash
